Why Did All My Emails Bounce & Why Is My Mailbox Restricted?

Error Message:

"You have reached a limit for sending mail. Your message was not sent."

Don't get alarmed—this is a common issue and totally fixable. Let’s walk through what’s happening and how to solve it.

What’s Going On?

This error usually pops up when you’re using a new or rarely used Gmail account to send out submissions.

Google has built-in protections that limit how many emails can be sent from an unfamiliar account. If you suddenly send a lot of messages, Gmail may flag your activity and temporarily block outgoing mail to prevent spam.

What You Can Do

Good news—we can reset your list, so you won’t lose your progress. Once your email issue is resolved, you’ll be able to pick up where you left off.

Here are two easy options to get back on track:

Option 1: Use a Well-Established Email (Recommended)

If you have another Gmail account that you use regularly (like your personal or work email), switching to that is the quickest fix.

Here’s how to switch:

  1. Go to repunzel.com
  2. Click on any of the "Get repped today" buttons to bring up the payment window.
  3. On the payment window, navigate to the last step and click on "Continue with Google" and sign in with the email you intend to use for your submissions. (If you're already signed in, click the Edit icon to change emails).
  4. Once it says "You're all set!", close the payment window. You do not need to follow through with the purchase.

Important: This process will delete your cover letter, so ensure you copy your cover letter somewhere safe so you can paste it into your new account. Also,If you had any exclusions on your original list, you’ll need to reapply them on the new one.

Once you're all done with that, just let us know, and we'll help you get everything set up.

Option 2: Warm Up Your Existing Gmail

If you’d prefer to keep using your current email, you’ll just need to “warm it up” so Gmail starts trusting it.

Here’s how:

  • Send 5–10 personal emails per day (to friends, yourself, or other real addresses)
  • Do this consistently for about two weeks

After that, Gmail should lift the restriction, and you’ll be able to use your account to send submissions through Repunzel again.
