Why Can’t I Send Emails Using My Custom Domain Email?
What’s Going On
If you're using a custom domain email (like name@yourwebsite.com) and managing it through a provider like ProtonMail, Zoho, or Outlook, the issue likely comes down to how Repunzel sends emails.
Repunzel uses Google’s secure sign-in system—which means your email needs to be connected to a Google account (i.e., Gmail or Google Workspace) in order to work through our platform.
How to check:
- Try signing in to any site using “Continue with Google.”
- If your custom email doesn’t appear as an option, that means it’s not linked to a Google account, and Repunzel won’t be able to send emails from it.
What Are My Options?
Option 1: Use a Well-Established Gmail Address Instead (Recommended)
If you have an existing Gmail account, you can send your submissions using that email address instead. In our experience, agents focus on your materials, not your email address—as long as it’s clear and professional.
Here’s how to switch:
- Go to repunzel.com
- Click on any of the "Get repped today" buttons to bring up the payment window.
- On the payment window, navigate to the last step and click on "Continue with Google" and sign in with the email you intend to use for your submissions. (If you're already signed in, click the Edit icon to change emails).
- Once it says "You're all set!", close the payment window. You do not need to follow through with the purchase.
Important: This process will delete your cover letter, so ensure you copy your cover letter somewhere safe so you can paste it into your new account. Also,If you had any exclusions on your original list, you’ll need to reapply them on the new one.
Once you're all done with that, just let us know, and we'll help you get everything set up.
Option 2: Connect Your Domain Email to Google (Advanced)
If using your custom email (e.g., name@mywebsite.com) is important to you, you’d need to set it up with Google Workspace. This allows you to use your domain email as a fully functional Gmail account—compatible with Repunzel.
Please note:
- Google Workspace requires a monthly fee.
- Setup involves updating your domain's DNS settings.
Option 3: Use a Different Established Email Address
Although Repunzel requires a Gmail account to connect and send emails, you can still use your existing email address, such as your company email or Yahoo. Simply sign up for a Gmail account and enable Gmailify - this allows you to send and receive messages using your established email through your Gmail account.
To do this, follow the steps outlined here.
Note: This option requires a bit more setup and may involve adjusting settings within your email provider. If you run into any issues, feel free to reach out anytime to our friendly support team at support@repunzel.com, and we'll help walk you through it.
If switching to Gmail feels easier, we’re happy to help get your list and settings updated. If none of the above options work for you, we totally understand—and we’re happy to issue a full refund if needed. Just email us at support@repunzel.com and we’ll get you taken care of!
