Why does my submission show as "opened" before the agent saw it?
If you've checked your sent folder after sending a submission, you may have accidentally triggered the open tracking yourself. This is a common thing that happens with email tracking systems.
How email tracking works
Our tracking system detects when an email is opened and when links inside it are clicked. But it can't tell the difference between you opening the email and the recipient opening it. So if you:
- Open your sent submission to check it
- Click any links to make sure they work
- Forward the email to yourself
The system records those actions the same way it would if an agent did them.
How to keep your tracking accurate
Once you've sent your submission, avoid opening those emails in your sent folder until you're done with your entire send. That way any opens you see in your tracking report are more likely to be from agents.
